Folashade Alli is a practicing lawyer and Chartered Arbitrator based in Lagos, Nigeria.
She obtained a degree in Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with second class upper division honours from University of Lagos in 1984. She was called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1985. She obtained a master’s degree (LLM) in Corporate and Commercial law from University College, London in 1987. She was called to the English bar in 1990 and is eligible to practice as a Barrister in England. She is member of the distinguished Lincolns Inn, London.
She is currently the Principal Partner of Folashade Alli and Associates formerly known as VATad Solicitors), a specialist law firm dealing in arbitration, maritime, oil and gas, banking and finance, and intellectual property.
She has extensive experience in arbitration and mediation and has been an arbitrator, counsel and registrar on numerous tribunals in disputes relating to maritime, construction, oil and gas, finance and intellectual property.
She sits on the Professional Conduct Committee of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) UK (Nigeria Branch). She is also Nigeria’s representative on the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR.
She is the Head of the Advocacy Committee, Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum, the Chairperson of the Professional Ethics Committee, as well as Treasurer, of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Legal Practice. She is also a Director at Institute of Directors, Nigeria and a Member of the Future of Legal Practice Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association.

She is also an active member of the International Bar Association, a member of Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria, and Fellow and Chartered Arbitrator of the Institute of Chartered Arbitrators. She is also an approved Mediator with the Lagos State Multidoor Court House.
Mrs. Folashade Alli is a registered Notary Public of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. She is also an Approved Tutor of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and an adjunct lecturer of the Nigerian Law School.
Folashade Alli speaks English and French fluently.
On May 15, 2019, at the New York City Bar International Commercial Disputes Committee (ICDC) Meeting, Mrs. Folashade Alli gave a general overview of arbitration practice in Nigeria. The lecture covered the prospects and challenges of arbitration in Nigeria and examined the implementation of the New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Arbitral Awards in Nigeria. She also discussed the Dispute Resolution Mechanisms in the recently signed Africa Continent Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Agreement.
